How can governing bodies share best practice?

It’s great to see governors wanting to support each other by sharing best practice. Our article relays advice from one of our associate education experts on how they can do this.

A recent report into the state of school governance in England recognises the substantial contribution that governors make, noting that school and college governors nationwide now oversee an annual expenditure of more than £46 billion. However, the report also explains that recruiting good governors is often harder where the need is greatest, in disadvantaged areas with low levels of pupil attainment.

Let’s hope that the launch of the Inspiring Governors Alliance, a national recruitment drive for “high calibre” governors, helps to tackle this problem.
