Product Manager: Ecommerce and platform

The role

We are looking for an experienced product manager to work as part of a talented team of product managers, driving forward product performance and feature development in line with the needs of The Key’s loyal member-base.

You will 

  •   Lead the development of a set of platform features to support critical customer journeys; from purchase, registration and on-boarding, through to renewal.
  •   Manage a strategy and roadmap and be responsible for validating problems and solutions.
  •   Prioritise and deliver a backlog of validated improvements with your scrum team, which remove pain-points and contribute towards a superlative customer experience
  •   Deliver tangible outcomes, using data, well-designed experiments and a short, iterative delivery cycle
  •   Work fluidly with market research, UX and UI, engineering, BI and product marketing teams, to deliver optimal value to users early and often
  •   Build expertise in the needs and behaviours of school leaders

 

The ideal person

You must:

  • Have 3+ years’ experience in product management and a passion for the role
  • Have a strong desire to understand our members and their problems
  • Be a strategic thinker, with the ability to focus and prioritise
  • Be outcome focused and data literate
  • Be a strong communicator, organised and collaborative
  • Have experience working in an Agile environment
  • Be comfortable taking the lead and inspiring cross-functional teams

Frontend Developer

The role

We are looking for a Frontend Developer to join our Engineering team. You will be part of a highly successful engineering team translating UX and UI designs into front end code for market leading online applications that have an impact on thousands of schools and millions of children.

The role will allow you to work across a variety of codebases contributing to new features, refactoring existing frontend code and also contributing to decisions around the future product roadmap.

Our flagship product, The Key for School Leaders is accessed by over 100,000 schools leaders every month. Your role will allow you to work on vital features, ensuring we have succinct and modern HTML5 and CSS3 code.

You will

  • Develop close working relationships across teams building in feedback from our users
  • Apply HTML and CSS changes to our member facing WebApps
  • Be able to steer the direction of future frontend developments with industry leading best practice
  • Have 4 hours of personal professional development time every sprint

The ideal person

  • At least 2-3 years of frontend development experience
  • Proficient in writing responsive HTML5 and CSS3 (SASS) websites
  • Hands on experience of JavaScript (this could be from using a framework such as jQuery, Vue.js or pure Javascript/ES6)
  • Knowledge of browser and mobile troubleshooting and debugging techniques
  • Expert knowledge of accessibility
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience of using source control tools (e.g. Git / SVN)

Nice to haves:

  • Experience of some of the following technologies:
    • Python / Django
    • Vue.JS / Angular / React / Flutter
    • WebPack / NPM / Node.js
    • WordPress
    • Docker
    • Experience of unit testing
  • Backend development awareness or experience

UI Designer

The role

We are looking for an experienced UI designer to join our growing product team. You will bring high- and low-fidelity requirements to life, creating elegant, intuitive user interfaces, across each of The Key’s product, company and marketing sites.

You will 

  • Collaborate with product, UX and development teams to take an idea from concept, through to mock ups and then delivery
  • Produce beautifully designed solutions that simplify complexity and help to create products that are a delight to use
  • Base design decisions on available data and insights about our users
  • Promote buy-in from engineering and products teams, offering a range of design solutions to solve critical problems
  • Keep up to date with latest UI trends and technologies and maintain a set of company brand design guidelines, best practice and standards 

 

The ideal person must

  • Have at least three years’ professional UI design experience, with a strong portfolio
  • Be creative, collaborative and passionate about beautifully designed products
  • Have a natural empathy and desire to spend time with users
  • A reflective nature and and be open to feedback
  • Have an in-depth understanding of Adobe CC

The role

We are looking for a HR co-ordinator to join our small and friendly People Team. Our mission is to make The Key a great place to work by providing effective and down to earth HR support to our talented and growing team of 150 employees. As a natural people person, you will co-ordinate recruitment campaigns, support with induction, manage on-boarding and off-boarding of new starters and leavers, maintain employee records and look after staff benefits. 

Your main duties will include:

  • Managing recruitment campaigns – from advertising roles on job boards and social media to scheduling interviews, preparing interview packs and communicating with candidates
  • New starter and leaver administration – issuing contracts and welcome gifts, carrying out pre-employment screening checks, collecting required documentation and setting up/deactivating system access 
  • Induction support – working with hiring managers to plan and co-ordinate induction programmes
  • Managing employee records and data – ensuring staff records are updated promptly and maintained to the highest standards 
  • Overseeing employee wellbeing and benefits – communicating company benefits to staff and being the first point of contact for queries 

The ideal person

You will:

  • Have a good understanding of HR practices and processes, particularly in recruitment campaigns, and two years’ experience in a similar HR role 
  • Be a natural ‘people person’, with excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Have strong administration skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Have excellent time-management skills, with the ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise and multi-task efficiently 
  • Be a good team player with a strong work ethic and sense of shared responsibility for achieving team goals

Digital Content Writer

Are you looking for a content writer role at a fast-growing, socially-conscious business? Would you like to develop specialist knowledge of the education sector and use it to help over 120,000 school leaders take decisive action in their schools?

 The Key is looking for a creative individual with strong writing skills to join us as a digital content writer for our market-leading support services.

The role

As a content writer you will research, write and maintain practical and engaging content of exceptional quality to meet the needs of school leaders, governors and leaders of multi-academy trusts.

You will draw on expertise from trustworthy external sources, from both the education sector and outside it, and quickly develop specialist knowledge of the sector. You will speak to our members regularly, to understand their problems and how best to address them.

You will bring imagination, empathy, creativity and a commercial sense to everything you do.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting lead content writers with a strong pipeline of content ideas based on a clear understanding of user needs, and intelligent decision making
  • Researching and writing about a range of topics, combining rigorous desk research with trustworthy external sources and internal expertise
  • Producing content in varied forms, according to our content roadmap, and in response to questions from school leaders and governors, following agreed deadlines – on time and in full
  • Developing and maintaining specialised sector knowledge, and using this knowledge to make sure content is kept up to date, as well as spotting opportunities to add value
  • Triaging incoming questions from our members, and determining when to write new content
  • Carrying out user research, as appropriate, to better understand members’ needs and how they use our content
  • Using qualitative and quantitative feedback insights to adapt both content and our approach to ensure our content is as practical and actionable as possible

The ideal candidate must have:

  • First-class research and writing skills 
  • Strong editorial judgement and a record of excellent decision-making
  • A creative spark and strong commercial intuition
  • An interest in the education sector and a strong focus on professional learning

Ideally you will also:

  • Have a proven ability to hunt down sources and information
  • Be able to collate and respond to findings, usage trends and user feedback
  • Have good team-working skills and a proactive, positive attitude
  • Have strong time management skills

 

This is a full time appointment

Location: Central London

Salary: £23,000-£28,000 (depending on experience)
