IT Support Technician

Are you looking for an IT role in a fast-growing business where people are at the heart of everything we do? Would you like to work within a socially conscious organisation that is making a real impact in the education sector?

The Key is looking for an enthusiastic IT Support Technician to join our IT operations team. Our mission is to continuously improve our IT systems and services, support the business and strive to create and innovate with ideas and technology.

The role

As a natural people person you will play an important part of a small and friendly IT operations team. You will be responsible for prioritising and assisting in our day to day IT requests and issues, manage our IT assets and support implementation of projects within the team.

This role provides support for our London office as well as remote support to our Lincoln and Plymouth offices where required.  

 

Your main duties will include:

  • IT administration: Creating and removing accounts on our cloud based systems, managing IT assets, ordering new IT equipment where required, ensuring IT processes and procedures are followed and improved.
  • Service Desk Requests: Providing IT support primarily for London but also for remote sites, prioritising requests and incidents, escalating if required and working with the team to see them through to resolution
  • Monitoring: Ensuring our IT systems and network infrastructure are monitored and maintained  
  • Security Patching: Take part in security patching or testing where needed to ensure systems are fully up to date and protected
  • Server Administration: Day to day administration of our server estate (across all sites)

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a good understanding of Microsoft operating systems for both client and server
  • Have knowledge of Active Directory
  • Be a natural ‘people person’, with excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Have strong administration skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Have excellent time-management skills, with the ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise and multi-task efficiently
  • Be a good team player with a strong work ethic and sense of shared responsibility for achieving team goals
  • Have experience working with key stakeholders
  • Have an interest in learning new technologies
  • Have an interest in the education sector

 

Desirable (but not essential) skills:

  • Experience with Cloud systems/SaaS platforms
  • Linux experience
  • GSuite experience

 

Job type: full-time, permanent

Location: London

Salary: £26,000 – £30,000 based on experience

Content Editor

Are you looking for a content editor role at a fast-growing, socially-conscious business? Would you like to develop specialist knowledge of the education sector and use it to help over 120,000 school leaders take decisive action in their schools?

The Key is looking for a creative individual with digital content experience to join us as a content editor for our market-leading support services.

The role

As a content editor you will research, write and maintain practical and engaging content of exceptional quality to meet the needs of school leaders, governors and leaders of multi-academy trusts.

You will draw on expertise from trustworthy external sources, from both the education sector and outside it, and quickly develop specialist knowledge of the sector. You will speak to our members regularly, to understand their problems and how best to address them.

You will bring imagination, empathy, creativity and a commercial sense to everything you do.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting lead content editors with a strong pipeline of content ideas based on a clear understanding of user needs, and intelligent decision making
  • Researching and writing about a range of topics, combining rigorous desk research with trustworthy external sources and internal expertise
  • Producing content in varied forms, according to our content roadmap, and in response to questions from school leaders and governors, following agreed deadlines – on time and in full
  • Developing and maintaining specialised sector knowledge, and using this knowledge to make sure content is kept up to date, as well as spotting opportunities to add value
  • Triaging incoming questions from our members, and determining when to write new content
  • Carrying out user research, as appropriate, to better understand members’ needs and how they use our content
  • Using qualitative and quantitative feedback insights to adapt both content and our approach to ensure our content is as practical and actionable as possible

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have first-class research and writing skills and experience of creating high-impact, practical digital content
  • Have excellent attention to detail and copy-editing experience
  • Have strong editorial judgement and a record of excellent decision-making
  • Have a creative spark and strong commercial intuition
  • Have an up-to-date understanding of education issues, or be interested in developing an understanding of education issues
  • Have a proven ability to hunt down sources and information
  • Have user research experience
  • Be able to collate and respond to findings, usage trends and user feedback
  • Be passionate and empathetic towards the needs of the schools sector and school leaders
  • Have good team-working skills and a proactive, positive attitude
  • Have strong time management skills
  • Be professionally curious with a strong focus on learning

This is a full time appointment

Location: Central London

Salary: £23,000-£29,000 (depending on experience)
