Agile Project Manager

Are you the kind of person who loves to motivate and get the best out of people? Are you organised and enjoy rising to the challenge of delivering projects which make a big impact?

The Role

As a member of the project management team you will be responsible for delivering projects in an Agile way. You will work closely with key stakeholders and technical teams to ensure the highest quality business solutions are delivered to time and scope.

Working with a great team of developers, testers, designers and product owners, you’ll get the opportunity to project manage multiple projects across a range of The Key’s new and existing products. We are currently looking at a big shift towards cloud hosting,  automation, continuous delivery and deployment.  As part of this role you will help with this transition, supporting the introduction of new tools and practices.

You will be leading an Agile development team, coaching and helping individuals to work in an Agile way. You will be supporting the team through facilitating stand-ups, planning meetings, reviews and retrospectives. You will also contribute to the wider Agile community within the organisation helping to drive improvements.

Salary: £24,000 to £32,000 (depending on experience)


The person

You will have some experience of project management, ideally in an IT software delivery setting, but other project management experience will also be considered. You will be comfortable working collaboratively with teams both locally and remotely, and will have great written and verbal communication skills.

You will also have:

  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent organisational skills in order to keep multiple projects on track
  • The ability to be flexible and accommodate change, but challenge scope creep
  • A positive can do attitude
  • Out of the box thinking

It would be desirable (but not essential) if you had:

  • Experience of the Scrum framework
  • A professional certification in project management or similar (PRINCE 2, APM, Agile PM, Scrum)
  • Experience of working with Jira
  • Experience of managing projects in a cloud environment
  • An interest in the Education sector

Software Test Engineer

Do you like breaking stuff? Do you like figuring out why it's broken? Hate repetitive, manual tasks? Great! We're probably looking for YOU!

We’re hunting for somebody who can automate a regression test, find all the things that annoy our members before they do, and keep the rest of our engineers on their toes with your bug hunting prowess.

The role

Working with a great team of developers, project managers and product owners, you’ll get the opportunity to contribute across a range of new and existing products. As a member of the Testing Team you will be responsible for the Automated, Manual and Exploratory testing of The Key’s software products and services.

As a Software Test Engineer, you’ll know how to drive tools like Jira, Selenium, Robot, SoapUI, Cucumber and Gherkin. In your day to day activities, you’ll work with our product teams to create re­usable testing components and scripts so our members aren’t the first to find a problem. You’ll dislike repetitive, manual testing and be motivated to make sure our testing team has as little of that to do as possible. You’ll enjoy working as part of a team.

You’ll be joining a leading education company getting involved and driving forward the Test/QA capability for products such as The Key for School Leaders, which is used by over 120,000 members in over 10,500 schools in England.

We work in Agile product teams working with customers to define the interactions and shape of the product, before we build it. It’s a fantastic working environment with a great deal of flexibility and a wonderful team.

The person

You will have some experience working in commercial software testing, and and be interested in test automation. You will be comfortable working in collaboration with product managers in remote locations, and have both strong verbal and written communication skills.

You will also have:

  • The ability to collaborate and get things done as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills
  • Proven experience with API and UI testing

It would be desirable (but not essential) if you had:

  • Experience automating tests for a SaaS web platform
  • Worked in an Agile and/or Scrum setting
  • Scripting skills (Bash, Ruby, Python or Perl)
  • Worked in a DevOps environment
  • Experience with Continuous Integration, Release Management, Continuous Delivery

Product Marketing Executive

Are you an experienced, motivated, and curious B2B marketer with excellent copywriting skills looking for a new challenge? Would you like to work for a fast paced, ethically minded digital business within the education sector?

We’re looking for a product marketer to bring fresh ideas on using a range of channels to generate leads, nurture interest, and deliver growth in our products for multi-academy trusts (MATs) and local authorities.

You’ll join a collaborative, multidisciplinary marketing team in a friendly, rewarding working environment.

The role

The product marketing executive will deliver the engagement and growth strategy for group memberships of our products for school leaders and governors. You will also deliver the engagement and growth strategy for The Key for MAT Leaders – a new online content platform that provides senior managers in MATs with the resources they need in order to lead, manage and grow groups of academy schools. You will work closely with the product manager, and product marketing, sales, content, digital and design teams to:

  • Develop and implement the launch, onboarding, sales and engagement strategy for The Key for MAT Leaders
  • Deliver campaigns which maximise retention and cross-selling to schools who purchase our products via MATs, LAs or school clusters
  • Increase penetration of our full range of products among schools in MATs, LAs or school clusters
  • Increase usage and advocacy among users within schools who purchase membership via groups of schools
  • Generate leads among senior stakeholders in local authorities and multi-academy trusts, nurture those leads, and support the sales team to engage with them
  • Optimise the group membership experience and build a greater sense of membership, ensuring that our brand, messages and values are reinforced in all member communications

The person

The ideal candidate will have excellent copywriting skills, a good understanding of marketing techniques across a range of channels, with two to three years’ B2B marketing experience.

Python Developer

The role
We are looking for a Python developer to join our growing team working on high-impact projects that benefit schools and local authorities throughout the UK.

You will be involved in creating and maintaining web applications using Python and the Django web framework, and will have the opportunity to shape the future direction of our market-leading products.

A major focus of the role will be ongoing development of our services for schools, including The Key for School Leaders, which is used by over 68,000 members in nearly half of the schools in England. We are continuously looking for new ways to help our members save time, work smarter and deliver better results.

You will be a member of the Python/Django team in a fast-growing organisation that employs a range of technologies. You will work with, and learn from, other developers, project managers and product owners across a range of new and existing products. You will get the opportunity to contribute to a modern codebase, with automated testing and deployment, supported by a powerful toolchain including Jira, Github, Jenkins, Docker and other CI/CD tools.

The person
This is an ideal opportunity for a junior developer looking to expand their commercial experience using Python. You will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, open-minded and have:

  • Experience of developing web applications using Python or PHP
  • An understanding of PostgreSQL or MySQL
  • A good understanding of HTML/CSS/Javascript
  • A good understanding of version control, preferably Git and GitHub

Not required, but highly desirable skills

  • Experience working in a Scrum or other Agile environment
  • Any cloud platform experience (GCP, AWS or Azure) for personal or commercial projects
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, experience is even better.
  • Any Docker/Kubernetes experience on personal or commercial projects
