Junior Graphic Designer

Are you looking for an creative/design role in a fast-growing business where people are at the heart of everything we do? Are you an illustrator looking to develop into a graphic design role? Would you like to work within a socially conscious organisation that is making a real impact in the education sector?

The role

We are looking for a Junior Designer with illustration skills to join our marketing team. Day to day you will play a vital role in supporting the Senior Designer. This is an exciting opportunity for a graphic design/illustration graduate to fully embed themselves in a growing and supportive marketing team. You will learn vital skills and receive training in design production.

You will be:

  • Supporting the Senior Designer on all marketing collateral and communications, both print and digital, including illustrations, mail-outs, web and wireframe design layouts
  • Working within the brand guidelines and ensuring it is consistently maintained in all external and internal material
  • Delivering a consistent and diverse output of collateral to support marketing and product teams
  • Sourcing and producing photography, illustrations and graphics for individual projects (all professional equipment is provided)
  • Working closely with colleagues to develop engaging concepts from briefs 

The ideal person

You will have a degree in graphic design, or a similar discipline, with a strong portfolio of work, demonstrating knowledge and skill in illustration.

You will also have:

  • Knowledge and experience of the Adobe suite of programs, predominantly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Excellent organisational, time management, administration and problem solving skills
  • The ability to work on multiple projects at one time and to meet tight deadlines
  • The ability to express design ideas clearly
  • Good proofreading skills and attention to detail

Ideally you will also have (but not essential):

  • Knowledge and experience of Adobe Premiere, After Effect and Audition
  • Experience producing direct mail and print collateral
  • Experience using project management systems, such as Asana, Trello
  • Strong, demonstrable interest, or previous experience, in marketing

Digital Content Writer

The Key is looking for an excellent researcher and writer with digital content experience to join us as a digital content writer for our market-leading support services.

 

The role

As a digital content writer you will research and write practical and engaging content of exceptional quality to meet the needs of school leaders, governors and leaders of multi-academy trusts. 

To do this, you will draw on expertise, including our membership base, with a focus on finding innovative practice across the education sector. You will also experiment with different content formats to find new ways to deliver information.

You will bring imagination, empathy, creativity and commercial sense to everything you do. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the lead content producer and head of content to create and deliver a compelling content roadmap, based on a clear understanding of user needs and intelligent decision making
  • Researching and writing about a range of topics, combining rigorous desk research with trustworthy external sources and internal expertise to create practical content
  • Finding innovative practice from across the sector, and sharing it with our members in practical and compelling ways
  • Developing and maintaining broad sector knowledge, and using this knowledge to spot opportunities to add value
  • Working with the lead content producer and head of content to find new ways to source and deliver information, experimenting with different content formats
  • Carrying out user research, as appropriate, to better understand members’ needs and how they use our content
  • Using qualitative and quantitative feedback insights to adapt both content and our approach to ensure our content is as practical and actionable as possible

 

The ideal person

It’s essential that you have:

  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • A keen interest in digital content trends and experience in writing online content
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A creative spark, strong editorial judgement and a strong commercial awareness to spot opportunities for high-impact content
  • An interest in the education sector
  • A strong focus on professional learning
  • Good team working skills and a positive, proactive attitude
  • Strong time management skills

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Experience in sourcing and creating digital content and practical resources across a range of formats, including video
  • Experience of editing copy
  • A proven ability to hunt down sources for content
  • The ability to collate and respond to findings, usage trends and user feedback, including experience of user research
