What can we do if another school is ‘poaching’ our staff?

What can we do if another school is ‘poaching’ our staff?

Members of our school leader service can read our answer here.

The ‘headhunting’ of staff is often associated with the business world, but this question from a headteacher shows that the ‘poaching’ of staff is an issue for schools as well. It is also topical as we approach the May half-term, sometimes referred to as the ‘transfer window’ for teaching staff.

Is this a problem your school is facing? Do you think it is fair to ‘poach’ staff from other schools?

Yes a local somerset school is phoning staff and offering them incentives to leave, the head having worked with us previously knows we can’t compete and so is taking staff at the end of term.

I’m sorry to hear that Iain. Did the article help at all? Somerset have arranged for all their schools to have access to The Key for School Leaders, so you can always ask our researchers a question if you cannot find the answer you are looking for.
