Improving the progress of pupils with special educational needs, 5 November, central London

Mainstream and special schools are facing new challenges this year as the new special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) Code of Practice came into effect in September.

This term The Key will be bringing together authoritative voices from across the sector to identify effective methods to improve the progress of pupils with special educational needs. This one-day conference will provide you with practical ideas that you can put in place at your school:

  • A range of teaching and learning approaches that have been used to support and extend pupils’ progress
  • Guidance on what inspectors will be considering when evaluating a school’s provision for pupils with SEN and additional needs
  • Assessment strategies that enable you to demonstrate your pupils’ achievements, wherever their strengths lie
  • Clarification of your statutory duties under the new Code of Practice and the wider SEND reforms
  • 1-2-1 surgery sessions with a lead school inspector
  • Networking opportunities including a post-event drinks reception
